Year-Long Buddhist Course of Study

The second year of this course began in January 2012.  To maintain cohesion of the group, enrollment is now closed. The course’s purpose is to assist practitioners to deepen their understanding of Buddhist teachings and to develop their meditation in a more intensive way. The course is divided into four quarters:

  • Entering the Path
  • Bhavana/Mental Development
  • Panna/Wise Understanding
  • Sila/Wise and Harmonious Action

The schedule includes every regular Sunday sit (the second Sunday of each month), and an extended day of practice and discussion every three months. Our next extended day will be Sunday, March 11. Doreen will lead the sit at the AVA Gallery from 9:45am-12 noon. We will break for a silent lunch (bring your own) 12-12:45; do 20 minutes of walking practice; then sit until 1:30. The rest of the afternoon (1:30 til 4:00) is teaching and discussion with Doreen.
