THURSDAYS: Morning Sitting & Book Study

Location: 14 Green St., Lebanon (in the barn through the orange doors)

Every Thursday from 10am - 12:30pm

Sitting and walking practice; we are adding a book study element to the meeting:

The Thursday morning meditation/study group will be reading BUDDHA'S BRAIN by Rick Hanson this summer. This book presents an accessible overview of the latest findings in neuroscience while making a connection between them and Buddhist teachings and practice. It includes important body and mind practices, which are easy to do and which can head us rapidly in the direction of wise and compassionate action, i.e. in the direction of freedom.

The group meets from 10 am to 12:30 in the barn at 14 Green Street in Lebanon. All are welcome to join us in person or in spirit - through reading this book on your own this summer. Here are two quotes from the book:

"Ultimately, happiness comes down to choosing between the discomfort of becoming aware of your metal afflictions and the discomfort of being ruled by them." - Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

"The principal activities of brains are making changes in themselves." - Minsky

For the July 1 gathering, please get the book and look over the material if possible. Also, please remember that it is not necessary to read the book to attend the gatherings as we will be meditating as well as discussing.
