Valley Insight Meditation Society was created by a group of people who practice and study in the Theravadan Buddhist tradition. The organization's intention is to provide opportunities for the larger community to explore these teachings, which include Vipassana, or Insight, meditation.
Meditation practice, through a wise and careful training of attention, can lead to a peaceful mind and a steady, kind heart. It helps us find our way to wisdom and compassion in the midst of the stressful complexities of our lives.

We are fortunate to have Doreen Schweizer as our guiding teacher. She is an inspirational teacher who freely shares her knowledge of the Dharma with us. She is also a graduate of the Jack Kornfield’s Spirit Rock (CA) Community Dharma Leaders program and keeps in close contact with her guiding teacher, Gloria (Taraniya) Ambrosia. The Valley Insight Board has been searching for ways that our sangha can support her teaching and show our appreciation. After consulting with a tax attorney, we are pleased to announce that Valley Insight as a non-profit organization can compensate Doreen for her work. With that in mind, we are announcing that your tax deductible donations to Valley Insight Meditation Society will be disbursed to Doreen at the discretion of the board.
